Advancing High-Impact Family Engagement Through Federal Policy and Technical Assistance

The US Department of Education (USDE) joined our May NAFSCE Network meeting to share highlights from the release of the ED-HHS Policy Statement on Family Engagement from the Early Years through the Early Grades. Read NAFSCE’s comments on this policy statement.
We also featured our partner, Education Development Center (EDC), who provided the field with an overview of the new federally funded National Center for Afterschool and Summer Enrichment (NCASE).

The Future of Family Engagement in Title I, Elementary and Secondary Education Act

Presenters: Alexis Holmes, National Education Association; Thomas Sheridan, National Head Start Association; Jacki Ball, National PTA; Jacque Chevalier, U.S. House of Representatives, Committee on Education and the Workforce.
A panel of presenters provided an overview of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) reauthorization efforts specific to family engagement which was followed by a general discussion about the field’s policy interests and priorities.
