What role can family and community engagement play in improving school safety? How can we effectively engage our community in conversations about how to keep students and educators safe? These questions have come to the forefront of our national conversation in the wake of the devastation in Parkland, Florida and other communities, and will be the topic of this month's Effective Practices Webinar.

Shellie Evers will tell us about the resources and training the state of Virginia provides to schools and communities and share how the state's school safety audit program works. Mary Kusler of the National Education Agency will discuss the kinds of advocacy efforts the NEA is supporting to effect long-term change. And finally, Brian Martinez, a student organizer from Chicago's March for Our Lives chapter, will share his story about local mobilization efforts to combat the violence that plagues their communities and their schools.

Join us for this important discussion and learn what you can do in your own communities to change the conversation around school safety.

Our Presenters:
